About me
Medy Oberendorff studied product design at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and
obtained a Master's degree in Scientific Illustration from Maastricht
University.
Until 2009 she worked at Leiden University as a scientific illustrator, after which she
started working as an independent illustrator. In addition to illustrating, she
taught at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and visual education at
primary schools.
With infinite patience and in her own style, she zooms in on the animals and plants
that we have around us every day but that we so often pass by. Precisely
because of her refined and very detailed representation of reality, she shows
us the beauty of a dead bird, the catch mask of a dragonfly larva or the
ingenuity of a dung beetle.
For Lannoo she made Wonder Forest and the "Flag and
Pennant" award-winning The Wondrous Book os Insects. For Rubinstein the
picture book Johannes de Parakeet and Gerda the Bullfinch
